While N was looking for colleges and visiting campuses we flew to the University of Colorado with her in 2006. It was a week long trip and we had some time left for sightseeing. After making our way around downtown and the well known tourist structures, we went on this day trip to the Rocky Mountains-just fantastic. In short, it was a 'top of the world' experience. LOL!

The Mile high city is kind of different from the other places I've visited. We stayed at a hotel right in the middle of the city or downtown and that made it extremely convenient to walk to all the touristy areas like the Coors field and Pepsi Center. Walking up hilly roads was almost like trekking and burning up calories.

The highlight of this trip for me was our day trip to the Rocky Mountains. We started from our hotel heading on Rt 70 to Berthoud Pass which passes the continental divide and all the way enjoying every bit of the mountain views as we drove along.

When we got to the Rocky Mountain National Park, the majestic splendor of the Mountains took my breath away and watching hoards of elks so close was another great experience.

 We stopped for lunch at a delightful lakeside cafe which was more like a log cabin in the scenic mountain town of Grand Lake. I could only imagine what the winter would be like up here.

On our way back, we visited the beautiful Winter Park which is the Colorado's largest  ski resort.
